Four Against Darkness is one of the most popular solo games available. There are over 20 books or modules for it, and most cost less than $20. The game is designed specifically for solo play, with easy character sheets, random dungeons, and a simple combat system. You roll for your characters, and your rolls also determine what the monsters do.
